Ployer MOMO8W dual boot tablet runs Windows and Android OS
Ployer’s been pretty quiet with newsworthy products of late but its new MOMO8W tablet is a dual boot device worth looking at.
The tablet runs both Windows 8.1 and Android 4.4 and is powered by an Intel Z3735F quad-core processor clocked at 1.33GHz.
The tablet has an 8-inch, 1280 x 800 pixel display, 2GB of DDR3L RAM and 32GB storage.
It supports Bluetooth 4.0 and HDMI out and is going for the business with Windows, fun with Android angle.

Synthesized synthesizer: Casio releases classic CZ synth for iPad
There’s a large number of multiple synth emulators on iPad but Casio’s bringing a dedicated app that recreates the Casio CZ synthesizer.
The first CZ, the CZ 101, was launched in 1984 and the series became popular among musicians throughout the ’80s.
Casio’s new app is dedicated to a quality sound output – four separate parts can be played using the Phase Distortion sound source.
36 types of waveforms are on hand and up to four virtual keyboards can be displayed. There’s also a mode that allows duets, with keyboards facing each way for two people to use it at the same time.
It’s also compatible with MIDI devices, as well as Inter-App Audio and Audiobus.

MIPOW M3 wireless headphones keep emergency cable coiled inside
The MIPOW M3 headphones are a wireless set of cans that keep concealed inside a wire for battery emergencies at the like.
That said, the 15 hours battery life shouldn’t let users down too much.
Battery status can be checked with voice prompts, which can also be used to answer calls.
There is also a control section on the earcup, along with the integrated mic.
It charges via DC power rather than USB.
The MIPOW M3 headphones are currently a kickstarter project, which is now successfully funded. There’s just less than a month to get them for $49 rather than the retail price of $80 that they’ll launch at in April.
The question is, how much weight will a probably never used cable add to the headphones and will they be unbalanced?

HP announces three new Android tablets, including a 12" beast
HP Pro Slate 12
The centerpiece of the announcement is the Android duo, the Pro Slate 12 and Pro Slate 8, slates in the truest of senses. The larger 12.3-inch model actually has a lower resolution at 1600x1200 pixels, resulting in a rather mediocre by today's standards 163ppi.
The Pro Slate 8 offers a much better 324ppi on its 7.9-inch 1536x2048 pixel screen.

Both tablets boot Android KitKat and are be powered by the Snapdragon 800 chipset, accompanied by 2GB of RAM. What's more intriguing is HP's Duet Pen which will be a part of the Slates package. The innovative stylus implementation allows the user to draw on any surface, with the result automatically transferred to the tablet.
A more traditional stylus experience is offered by the Pro Slate 10 EE. It isequipped with tan Intel Atom 1.33GHz processor, 1GB of RAM and a 10.1-inch 1280x800 pixel screen.

Meizu MX4 Pro finally leaves China, enters Malaysia
The Meizu MX4 Pro is at last breaking the borders of its home Chinese market and will be available for purchase in Malaysia, starting next month. Malaysian standardization organization SIRIM has granted approval of the handset on January 17, hinting at the imminent market launch.
The MX4 Pro is the company's latest top-of-the-line offering, a notch above the already solid MX4 model. The 5.5 QHD handset packs an Exynos 5 Octa 5430 chipset, 3GB of RAM and a choice of 16/32/64GB of non-expandable storage.
Be sure to check out our recent review of the device, where it got praised for its solid build, beautiful screen and excellent camera and audio output, among other things.
The MX4 Pro will hit the stores at an official price of 1,499 Malaysian Ringgit for the 16GB edition which roughly translates to $415.

Samsung dominated smartphone shipments in 2014
In the year 2014 the world saw an increased number of smartphones shipped but overall little change in the top three vendors. Samsung has been the leader for some time now but is seeing its market share slowly reduced by the likes of tough competition.
Year over year Samsung's market share has shrunk by 4.5 percentage points and TrendForce's prediction is that the top smartphone maker will lose another 1.4 percentage points by this time next year.
The second place is again reserved for Apple, which sits more firmly with just 0.2% lost year over year. Lenovo is once again in third but it's only able to claim that position thanks to the acquisition of Motorola, which added a 3% share of its own.
Huawei and LG have fought over fourth place for awhile now but LG managed to come out on top in TrendForce's yearly numbers and reclaim the spot with just 0.1%.
Overall shipments in 2014 are 1.2 billion units - up from 2013's 927.2 million.
In the projection for next year Samsung, Apple and Lenovo are expected to hold onto their positions but Chinese makers like Xiaomi and Huawei will surpass LG and move closer to Lenovo.

The TENAA is on a roll today, with the Chinese FCC certifying the Gionee V381 phone, after a few other handsets. This one looks like an elegant device, with a minimal bezel, but also a not very slim waistline, judging by the pics below.
It measures 9.5 mm and weighs 180 grams, which is quite a bit, at 5 inches in diagonal. The phone has modest specs, that include a 960 x 540 pixel resolution, as well as a quad core 1.3 GHz processor, 1 GB of RAM and Android 4.4.4 as the OS. There’s 8 GB of storage, a microSD card slot on board and two cameras. The front shooter does 2 MP selfies and the back one is an 8 MP cam.
GPS and Bluetooth are also here and the main camera comes with a CMOS sensor. There are 3 capacitive buttons below the display and the typical rectangular format adopted by the smartphone. The speaker is very minimal and integrated at the lower back.

User agent profile confirms QHD display for Samsung Galaxy S6
While we're waiting for the Samsung Galaxy S6 to show up this quarter (hopefully around the Mobile World Congress) we're treated to the latest leak.
The User Agent Profile for a SM-G920A has been found confirming some of the details we're keen to know about the device, prior to launch. We didn't really expect anything different but the UAProf confirms the 1440x2560px (QHD) screen resolution of the device.
What's interesting about the leak is the CPU information. According to the user agent profile the Samsung Galaxy S6 will use an ARM11-based chipset, which is hard to believe since this is a very old architecture (we're now at ARMv8-A while ARM11 is ARMv6). What's more is that ARM11 is solely 32-bit and there's no mention of 64-bit anywhere in the UAProf.
The upcoming Samsung flagship is expected to come in two versions with the company's first 64-bit Exynos 7420 and a limited in numbers Snapdragon-powered version (similarly to the Galaxy Alpha) - so this UAProf may refer to some test model with pre-release hardware or that the CPU listing will be changed in a later time.
The Samsung Galaxy S6 in the UAProf is expected to be the US-heading AT&T model.

TCL M2L Dual Mode LTE Handset Announced
HTC and TCL have been linked by rumors in the past, but today I’m blown away from a fresh TCL announcement. They just debuted a LTE smartphone, that’s being shown in renders that somehow feature HTC’s BlinkFeed. It’s either one big confusion, or some legit licensing between the two firms.
The newcomer is called TCL M2L and it’s a TD-LTE/FDD-LTE phone with Android 4.4 KitKat on board. Inside we find a 64 bit processor made by Qualcomm, a Snapdragon 615 unit, clocked at 1.5 GHz. The device also features an 8 megapixel front camera with CMOS sensor and a 13 megapixel back shooter. TCL M2L is a dual mode LTE unit, with LTE Category 4 support, reaching a download speed of up to 150 Mbps.
I should also mention this is a dual SIM handset, that comes with two micro SIM card slots. It also has Bluetooth 4.0, WiFi dual band, NFC, 1 GB of RAM and 8 GB of storage, plus a 3500 mAh battery, that’s pretty generous in my book. TCL’s original device will come in two colors and be sold by China Telecom.
Pinnacle Africa Launches Dual SIM Windows Phone Unit
Pinnacle Africa has debuted a dual SIM Windows Phone device, that packs a 4 inch screen and is dubbed Proline SP4. This is a low cost model that will debut in stores on January 30th and it will cost a mere $86.
The product comes with a 4 inch display, a quad core Snapdragon processor and a 1950 mAh battery. There are two SIM slots on board and the OS is Windows Phone 8.1. Proline SP4 has the ability of having two SIMs active at the same time and you can specify which SIM will take over data and which will handle the cellular features.
This handset comes in white, orange or green and features interchangeable covers. Proline SP4 measures 10.6 mm in thickness, weighs 125 grams and supports a 480 x 800 pixel resolution. At the back there’s a 4 MP camera, while upfront there’s a 0.3 MP shooter and the list of specs includes 4 GB of storage, a microSD card slot, Adreno 302 GPU and 512 MB of RAM.

Coolpad 8675-A Debuts Officially, as New LTE Smartphone
Coolpad, one of the most successful smartphone brands in China in 2014 announced today a handset called Coolpad 8675-A, a model that gives you both LTE connectivity and 64 bit processing. The device is pictured below.
It runs Android 4.4 KitKat and relies on the 64 bit Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 processor, clocked at 1.5 GHz. Its screen is of phablet size, at 5.5 inch and the resolution offered here is 1280 x 720 pixels. Coolpad 8675-A integrates a LCD panel, a 5 megapixel CMOS selfie shooter and a main 13 megapixel camera. It also offers TD-LTE connectivity and LTE Category 4, bringing the top download speed up to 150 Mbps and upload to 50 Mbps.
This Coolpad newcomer is a dual SIM unit, with two micro SIM slots and it also packs Bluetooth 4.0 and WiFi among its specs. Inside we find 2 GB of RAM, 16 GB of storage and a 2500 mAh battery. China Telecom will sell it for a yet unknown price tag.

Here’s the Schedule of HTC Device Android 5.0 Updates in 2015
A source in Taiwan has published an interesting list of update dates for the most famous HTC handsets. The updates will take them to Android 5.0 Lollipop and the info arrives, just as some of the HTC One M8 users have started receiving Lollipop.
As you can see here, in the first month of the year HTC One M8 and M7 are the focus, both getting the update. Last I heard they were getting it in two weeks’ time tops. Next up, in the second month, HTC One E8, the selfie powerhouse Desire Eye and HTC One M8 Eye, as well as Butterfly 2 will move on to Android 5.0, its power saving goodness and improved quick settings.
March is the most prolific one, with no less than 7 models updated to Android 5.0: HTC One Max, HTC M7 Dual SIM, HTC Desire 816, HTC Desire 820u, HTC One M8 Mini, HTC One E8 China and HTC One M8 Eye China. Finally, around April and probably a part of May, we find the HTC One M8 (UL), Desire 610, Desire 820s and Desire 510 ready to get the update, together with the HTC One Mini.

Lenovo launches A6000 4G Android smartphone in India for INR 6,999
Chinese smartphone maker Lenovo on Friday introduced the new A6000 budget Android smartphone in Indian market. Priced at INR 6,999, the phone is being launched in exclusive partnership with e-retailer Flipkart.com.
“Lenovo as a leader in the smart connected devices is committed to be staying ahead of the curve. The A6000 is the perfect choice for the youth/ millennials who want a trendy phone loaded with future-proof features and yet not being heavy on the pocket,” said Sudhin Mathur, Director – Smartphone at Lenovo India.

Xiaomi to launch Mi 4 in India on Jan 28
Xiaomi is planning to launch the Mi 4 smartphone in the Indian market on January 28, revealed the company’s VP of global operations Hugo Barra on the sidelines of the Mi Noteannouncement in Beijing.
Barra did not share any other details about the Mi 4 availability in the country including the pricing. Currently on sale in China for starting 1,999 yuan, the Xiaomi Mi 4 smartphone will most likely be sold at INR 18,999 for the 16GB version and INR 23,999 for the 64GB version in India.
Originally introduced in July last year, Xiaomi Mi 4 features a 5-inch full HD display, Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 quad-core processor, 3GB of RAM, and 3080 mAh battery. The smartphone sports a metal frame, includes nano-coating for water-resistance and runs on Android 4.4-based MIUI 6.0.
On the imaging front, Mi 4 packs 13MP rear camera and 8MP front camera.

Lenovo showed off all kinds of goodies at CES 2015 this week, and we’ve already looked at one of their new handsets in the Vibe X2 Pro. That wasn’t the only smartphone the company had on display though, and the Lenovo P90 is well worth a look if you need a device with plenty of juice.
As the devices in our pockets become more powerful and their screens become bigger, they need more juice. Nobody wants to be tethered to the wall all day, and the Lenovo P90 can help with that thanks to a massive 4,000mAh battery. The rest of the Lenovo P90 specs include 32GB of storage, 2GB of RAM, Bluetooth 4.1, WiFi, and an FM radio. You’ll be able to take sharp selfies with the 5MP sensor on the front, and the rear camera is listed at 13MP. The 4G enabled handset measures 150 mm x 77.4mm x 8.5mm with a weight of 156grams, and will run Android 4.4 out of the box.
The Lenovo P90 is one of the first handsets to make use of Intel’s new 64-bit chips, and that big battery will be a godsend for users that stay glued to their smartphone 24/7. At this time, we’re unsure of the Lenovo P90 price and availability, but it is expected to start its roll out sometime in February.

If you thought that the first device you will have to wait a long time, you were wrong. Fuhu – a company based in California, has announced a giant tablet display with a diagonal of up to sixty-five inches.

Alcatel launches its own online store in the US
Huawei already has its own online store in the US, through which it sells the Ascend Mate 2 in unlocked form along with a bunch of accessories. And now fellow Chinese company TCL has created a virtual storefront of its own, for the Alcatel brand. Unlike Huawei, though, Alcatel also lists those devices that it has customized for carriers.
So if you're in the US, you can now order Alcatel devices straight from their maker. The store is clearly a move meant to make the Alcatel brand more well known in the US. Its French origins mean it has a good deal of notoriety in Europe, but not so much across the pond.
Alcatel's US store is powered by Amazon, which means you can get Prime benefits if you're subscribed to that. The brand already has an online presence in a few countries in Europe, which it plans to expand later this year. By the end of March, we should also see an Alcatel store in Canada.
Up for grabs over at the company's US establishment are accessories (device covers, NFC tags, power banks, Bluetooth headsets, and more) but also some mobile devices too, as you'd expect.
You can get the Alcatel OneTouch Idol X+, Idol Mini, Pop C9, and Idol 2S smartphones, as well as thePop 7 and Pop 8 tablets.
The unlocked devices are all up for pre-order at the moment, with the shipping date being January 28.
